Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store Announces August Calendar of Events
Jackson, Tennessee — (July 31, 2023) — Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store and Casey Jones Village have a full schedule of events planned for community members in August, including live music and diverse activities for children and adults.
Guests can enjoy live music on Tuesdays and Fridays this month beginning Aug. 2. Live music hour will be hosted in the Delta Room of The Old Country Store on Tuesdays from noon until 1 p.m. Local artists will be showcased on Friday evenings from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the same location.
Several activities are on the schedule for the little ones, including Casey Jones Craft Camp every Monday at 10:30 a.m. and Storybook Station in the Jackson Room of Casey Jones Museum Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. There will be light refreshments and crafts following story time. Children can explore nature during Little Sprouts Outdoor Classroom on The Farm Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Little Folkies on The Farm led by Alice Hardin. will be Friday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. An exotic and farm animal petting zoo will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. August 19.
Testimonies at the Table offers spiritual inspiration for guests with topical speakers on Thursdays at 9 a.m. in the Delta Room of The Old Country Store.
Two sessions of Fitness on the Farm will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, and Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. The exercise class is beginner and mom-friendly; guests should bring their own yoga mats and water.
On Aug. 12 and Aug. 26, Guests are invited to explore and learn on the Historical Structures Tour. Guests should meet in the lobby of the Casey Jones Museum at 10 a.m. The hour-long tour will conclude at Miss Anne’s Ice Cream Shoppe, where participants will receive a complimentary single scoop of ice cream flavor of their choice — chocolate, strawberry or vanilla.

The summer programming is part of an ongoing effort to serve the community by providing interesting, diverse, educational and engaging events for youth, seniors and families.
