Old Country Store President Brooks Shaw Continues Legacy of Service Through Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association Board

Jackson, Tennessee – (Sept. 27, 2024) — In recognition of World Tourism Day, which is September 27, Old Country Store President Brooks Shaw celebrates his second year of service with the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association. He is also chair of the Restaurant Advisory Board and is committed to enhancing tourism to bolster the economic impact of local attractions, including Casey Jones Village.

“Serving on the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association board has been an invaluable experience,” said Shaw, a third-generation owner. “It’s not just about networking; it’s about creating strategic partnerships that enhance tourism and drive growth. Through our collective efforts, we’re building a stronger tourism industry that positively impacts every corner of Tennessee.”

As chair of the restaurant advisory board, Shaw plays a pivotal role in addressing key challenges facing the state’s restaurant industry, such as workforce development, operational efficiency and the evolving needs of both businesses and consumers. The advisory board’s initiatives are designed to support Tennessee’s diverse dining landscape, making it a critical component of the broader tourism strategy.

“Our focus is on supporting restaurants as essential drivers of tourism,” Shaw explained. “Whether it’s through advocating for policies that benefit small businesses or developing programs that improve the dining experience for visitors, our goal is to make Tennessee a top destination for travelers. The success of our restaurants directly contributes to the success of our tourism industry.”

Shaw’s service on the TnHTA board continues a legacy of commitment to the hospitality sector. His father, the late Clark T. Shaw, served on the same board for many years, demonstrating the Shaw family’s long-standing dedication to promoting Tennessee tourism and supporting local businesses.

Looking ahead to 2025, the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association aims to enhance the state’s profile as a premier travel destination by leveraging its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and vibrant hospitality sector. Shaw’s work at Casey Jones Village to attract tourists with a unique blend of history, dining and retail experiences, contributes to Jackson’s growing reputation as a must-visit location.

“As a lifelong resident of Jackson, I see tremendous potential for tourism to transform our community,” Shaw added. “By working together at the state and local levels, we can create memorable experiences for visitors that showcase the best of what Tennessee has to offer.”
